It Takes Two – Series 6, Week 9, Tuesday

By chesilbeach

Lisa & Brendan took their place on the Tuesday sofa first, as this weeks saved couple. Watching the video of the weekend, Lisa got quite emotional and was almost in tears. Brendan said that they went into the competition knowing that there was a good chance they would be in the dance off, and after getting their score, he prepared Lisa to dance again. Brendan said that two seconds before the music started for the dance off, Lisa said her mind had gone blank and he had to tell her to pull herself together, and she realized that this could be her last dance and she gave it everything. Brendan also felt emotional afterwards because someone else still had to get kicked out. Lisa didn’t think about being judged again after the dance off and just went out to enjoy herself. They’ve got the Quickstep this week, and Lisa says it’s her favourite dance, and Brendan said the result of being in the dance off was that on Monday morning he was out there choreographing an amazing routine for their Quickstep and they got the routine down in just two hours!

Comedians Jo Caulfield and Will Smith were back next to discuss the weekend, but this time they were joined by Lionel Blair, who said Strictly is the best programme on television. Lionel made an interesting point about the dresses this week, saying that he thought that if Cherie’s dress was suited for a young girl and if it had had more fringing she wouldn’t have felt so self-conscious and might have danced better. They all had a bit of a discussion about the judges disagreements during the weekend, and Lionel feels that he agrees with Len most often because he is a proper ballroom judge. Claudia loved the Bruce and Anton routine, and Lionel said he was completely jealous because he usually dances with Bruce, and told Anton off for stealing his steps!

Christine & Matthew were the next couple to join Claudia in the studio. Christine told us she had a brilliant Saturday, and Claudia talked to them about her comment that they were running a marathon, not a sprint, and Christine agreed that they’ve snuck under the radar to a certain extent and that it’s much easier not being in the front and coming from behind to get better each week. As the only female celebrity that hasn’t been in the dance off so far, Christine talked about how much she appreciates the support of the public, and how they try to go out each week and deserve the votes they get. They’ve got the Cha Cha Cha this week, and after being reminded how brilliant Matthew’s routine with Alesha was, Christine admitted that it was her favourite dance from all of Strictly, so she’s just trying to put that out of her mind, and try to dance her own routine!

Four Puffs and a Piano were the guests in Choreography Corner this week. Starting about John to start, they said it was entertaining, but they look forward to his latin routines more, and they complimented Kristina for giving him steps he can do. Dave talked about Rachel’s routine, saying it was wonderful, and they thought she outdanced Vincent in that routine. They weren’t overly enamoured with Erin’s routine this time, and they didn’t think the acting was right from Austin. Talking about Tom & Camilla, they said that Tom makes great lines, but they agreed with Craig that it was a bit self contained at times.

Tomorrow will see James doing the mid-week review with Craig, as well as Tom & Camilla joining Claudia in the studio.
